چکیده

Relaying technology is an essential part of 3GPP LTE-Advanced (3 Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution Advanced). This paper evaluates the path loss encountered on the backhaul link of relaying systems. The evaluation is based on an extensive measurements performed in 1900 MHz frequency band. The validity of different propagation models for multiple relay antenna heights is examined. The results of the analysis reveal that the applicability of commonly advocated models for relaying environment is still questionable. Some modifications of the original forms of the discussed models are introduced to make their predictions more reliable. With the proposed modifications, the analyzed models show good agreement with measurements. The prediction error is smaller than 0.37 dB, on average, and the accuracy ranges from 2.23 to 6.40 dB.

A Modified Empirical Path Loss Model for 4G LTE Network in Lagos, Nigeria

The quality of signal at a particular location is essential to determine the performance of mobile system. The problem of poor network in Lagos, Nigeria needs to be addressed especially now that the attention is toward online learning and meetings. Existing empirical Path Loss (PL) models designed elsewhere are not appropriate for predicting the 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) signal in Nigeria. T...

Dynamic Relaying in 3GPP LTE-Advanced Networks

Relaying is one of the proposed technologies for LTE-Advanced networks. In order to enable a flexible and reliable relaying support, the currently adopted architectural structure of LTE networks has to be modified. In this paper, we extend the LTE architecture to enable dynamic relaying, while maintaining backward compatibility with LTE Release 8 user equipments, and without limiting the flexib...

Effect of Operating Frequency on Performance of LTE and LTE-Advanced Systems

A vast pool of frequency bands from 450 MHz to 3.6 GHz is available for deployment of LTE and LTEAdvanced networks. But with increase in the operating frequency path loss increases which in turn impacts the coverage area of a base station. Accordingly the number of base stations increases which leads to increase in the cost of deployment. Availability of spectrum in high frequency range is not ...
